| Catalog Notes | In verse, with pictures. Title and imprint statement transcribed from p. [1] of wrapper. Caption title: The three little kittens and their mittens. Includes a picture of men of various races and ethnic groups holding letters of the alphabet. This lithographed illustration is found in other McLoughlin titles issued between 1882 and 1889. Lower cover bears a chromolithograph depicting a seated girl holding a cat. The fine reproductive quality of this lithograph is characteristic of McLoughlin picture books issued roughly between 1885 and 1899. Cover included in pagination. Relief print illustration, p. [2], is signed by engraver Edward P. Cogger. Plates printed in color by a relief process (zinc etching?). |
