| Catalog Notes | Title and imprint statement transcribed from upper cover. Variant issues noted. Issue in hand has the running title Child's first book printed on p. [2-3]. Another issue does not have this running title. Color tinting of illustrations also vary. "Golden light series. ... Six kinds ... Half-hours with the Bible. A new series of Bible histories for the young ... 12 kinds."--publisher's advertisement, lower cover. These series descriptions match those found in the publisher's catalogue, McLoughlin Bros., New York. Catalogue of toy books, games, &c. for 1875-'76 (New York, [1875]). An earlier trade catalogue published in 1867 describes Half-hours with the Bible as having only six titles, and the Golden light series is not mentioned. Last page blank; pasted to printed cover. Some text printed in red and black. Cover printed in red, green and black. Illustrations produced by a relief process (i.e., zinc etching?). Some illustrations printed in color.
