McLoughlin Bros., manufacturers, 71 & 73 Duane St., N.Y."--publisher's advertisement, p. [4] of wrapper. McLoughlin Bros. was located at 71 & 73 Duane St. between 1871 and 1886. This description matches that given in the McLoughlin trade catalogue for 1875, with the exception of the Aunt Louisa's big picture series, which the catalogue lists as "Aunt Louisa's big picture books ... fifty kinds." Wrapper design and textual illustrations produced by a relief process; printed in colored ink. Wrapper design and illustrations signed by engraver Edward P. Cogger. An earlier McLoughlin issue of this title (copyright 1867) bears a printed statement of responsibility naming Justin H. Howard as the illustrator. Textual illustrations for the issue in hand matches those in the 1867 issue. Publisher's advertisement, includes an ad for Swift's Combination Toy Blocks. |
