| Catalog Notes | In verse, with pictures. Includes Tom, the piper's son, p. [6-8]. Title, series, and imprint statement transcribed from p. [1] of wrapper. Series transposed from head of wrapper. "McLoughlin Bros., 30 Beekman Street, New York"--publisher's advertisement, p. [4] of wrapper. The McLoughlin firm was located at 30 Beekman St. between 1863 and 1869. Publisher's advertisement includes advertisements for paper dolls and paper furniture. The paper dolls are arranged in four numbered series. The catalogue, List of Toy books manufactured ... by McLoughlin Bros. (New York, 1867) contains listings for these four series, but series one and two are comprised of two subseries; the second subseries of series one and two are not listed in the publisher's advertisement in the issue in hand. Illustrations are produced by a relief process, and are printed in color. |
