| Catalog Notes | Nursery rhymes with pictures. Title, imprint statement, and series transcribed from p. [1] of wrapper. Series title transposed from head of wrapper. The McLoughlin Bros. firm was first listed in the New York city directory published in 1858. Issue in hand contains an advertisement for Mother's series listing titles including Tom Tearabout. The list of toy books manufactured ... by McLoughlin Bros. (1867) lists the Mother's series, but roughly half of its original titles, including Tom Tearabout, were listed in the Father's series. The American Antiquarian Society has another title issued in Aunt Mavor's series dated ca. 1863. Wrapper illustration printed in red and black ink. Textual wood engravings hand-colored.
