| Catalog Notes | Title, imprint statement, and series transcribed from upper cover. Series transposed from head of cover. Running title: Nursery jingles. Variant issues: issue in hand begins with the poem, "Up Picadilly." Another issue begins with "Pussy Cat, Pussy Cat." "Grandmother Goose series. Retail 15 cents each. Comprise three books, each containing one double and six full-page illustrations. Many of the pictures are novelties--having several subjects in one picture. Elegantly printed in colors. Royal 8vo. 16 pages. Showy covers in oil colors"--McLoughlin Brothers' catalogue of toy books, 1882. Publisher's advertisement, lower cover, includes Over the hills "with designs by Miss Ida Waugh." Over the hills was copyrighted by McLoughlin Bros. in 1882. Several other works mentioned in this advertisement were listed as "New stock for the seasons of 1882 and 1883" in the McLoughlin Bros. catalogue for that year, including The cruise of the walnut shell, Hans Thumbling, Pantomime toy books, and Greenaway Mother Goose.
