"Fairy Moonbeam series."--publisher's advertisement, p. [4] of wrapper. This series is listed as Fairy Moonbeam's series in McLoughlin catalogues through 1875; it is first called Fairy Moonbeam series in the Catalogue of toy books ... manufactured by McLoughlin Bros. (New York [1876]), p. 21. Copy in hand bears a note presumably typed by McLoughlin Bros., Inc. Vice President Charles E. Miller with the remark, "Published about 1880. A five-cent picture book of the time." According to the Catalogue of McLoughlin Bros., toy books (New York, 1880), the books published in the Susie Sunshine's series sold for five cents apiece. Wrapper printed in red, green, and black ink. Textual relief prints printed in color. |
