| American Antiquarian Society Copy Notes | Subject: Image of a young boy standing on Front Street, New York, on a dock. He has freshly painted on a crate "This end up." A man, who now stands looking out onto the water, has sat on the wet paint and has the impression of the words on his rear end. An African American man is seen moving a crate labeled "with care." Ship masts are seen at right, and "Front St." is marked on a brick building. Notes: "621."--foot of print. Advertised by B. Fox & Co., Box 27 Station A, in the New York clipper, October 23, 1869. |
