| Catalog Notes | In verse. Book cut in the shape of a standing doll (complete with feet). Title transcribed from upper cover. Imprint statement transcribed from foot of p. [2]. Probably by Grace C. Floyd. Another shaped book, Dolly's adventures, is attributed to her in NUC pre-1956. "McLoughlin Bro's New-York."--lithographed statement, lower cover. High quality of chromolithography of covers and illustrations is characteristic of McLoughlin picture books published between ca. 1884 and 1900. This was not located in the McLoughlin publisher's catalogue for 1886; nor was it found in the Confidential price list and telegraph code for 1894-'95. Catalogues for the years between 1887 and 1893 were not available. According to the New York Historical Society, this issue is similar to other doll-shaped books published by McLoughlin Bros. and copyrighted in 1894. Text and some illustrations lithographed in green ink. |
