| Additional Notes | A picture book containing chromolithographed plates featuring various fruit. On opposite leaves are lithographs of the same fruit plants in outline; each lithographed outline illustration is surrounded by perforations. Issue in hand was probably published by English publisher Raphael Tuck (1821-1900). Copy in hand bears white paint at the foot of upper cover, perhaps to block out original imprint statement. The upper cover also bears the inscribed number 194. According to the McLoughlin Brothers' eighty-sixth annual catalogue (1914), item no. 194 is the Painting book of fruit. Apparently, McLoughlin Bros. reissued the title in hand under a new name. Cover and plates chromolithographed. Sixth plate signed by Nellie Benson. |
