| Catalog Notes | Cover title: Fur and feathers. Tales for all weathers by Edric Vredenburg & others. With a half-title. Raphael Tuck & Sons was granted the Royal Warrant of Appointment by Queen Victoria in 1893; she died in 1901; cf. Blair & Margaret Whitton, Collector's guide to Raphael Tuck & Sons (1991), p. 15. A copy of Fur and feathers held at the Baldwin Library, University of Florida has an inscription dated 1894. Cover and plates chromolithographed. Front cover features a dog playing an organ grinder and leading on a leash a monkey wearing a fez. Illustrations signed by Fanny Bowers (p. 25), M. Bowley (p. 64), and Herbert Horwitz, and Andre & Sleigh (p. 65). Has trademark of Raphael Tuck & Sons on title page consisting of an easel bearing the initials "RTS," and a palette below it with the sign, "artistic series." Below the trademark is the inventory number, "No. 1106." |
