| Catalog Notes | Text signed on p. 29: M.G. Possibly by Mary Sands Griffin. The intials "M.G." also appear in prefaces of books written by Mary Sands Griffin, whose works include Emma Bartlett or Prejudice and fanaticism, issued by religious tract publisher Moore, Wilstach, Keys & Overend in 1856. Thomas Nelson & Sons were located at 42 Bleecker St., New York, between 1870 and at least 1876. Copy in hand bears an inscription dated 1877. In green pebble grained cloth with decorative design and series title stamped in black on upper cover. Printed cloth title label, "John Borrow" affixed to upper cover. Chromolithographed decals of flowers also affixed to upper cover. "The little library"--series title, upper cover. "Secret of success."--p. [30]-32. "S.W. Partridge and Co., 9, Paternoster Row, London"--publisher's advertisements for periodicals and books, [4] p. at end. |
