By Henry William Dulcken; text copied from The golden light (London: Routledge, Warne, and Routledge, 1865). Issue in hand is similar in size, design, and illustrations to the Early life of Jesus, another volume of the Golden light series owned by the American Antiquarian Society. That issue was dated ca. 1882. Cover and illustrations chomolithographed. Illustrations copies from those made for the Routledge, Warne, and Routledge edition by Alfred Walter Bayes and engraved by the Dalziel Brothers. "Golden light series. Retail 15 cents each. Six kinds. This series is very complete, and especially designed to interest the young in the New Testament. The illustrations are elegantly printed in colors. 4to. Cap. 16 pages.
