| American Antiquarian Society Copy Notes | Subject: A vertical three-quarter-length sentimental scene of a mother and child. A young woman holds a small boy up to see his father's portrait, which hangs on the wall. The child reaches for the portrait with both hands. There is a table under the portrait with an arrangement of roses. The boy wears a short dress with patterned knee socks and slippers. The mother wears ringlets, and a v-necked dress with a tiered skirt. Notes: Numbered at foot: 228. N. Currier listed at 152 Nassau Street and 2 Spruce Street between 1838 and 1856. See Gale.
