According to extant Cincinnati directories, the firm of Truman and Smith was located at 150 Main St. between 1834 and at least 1842. Some wood engravings signed by Alexander Anderson; see Jane Pomeroy, Alexander Anderson (2005), entry 2023 describing an edition issued by William T. Truman in 1844. "Children's books. Truman & Smith, booksellers .. are extensively engaged in publishing children's books. ... varying in prices, from one cent to twenty-five cents each. ..."--p. [4] of wrapper. |
