No. 64.--Greenaway Mother Goose series. Illustrations enlarged from Kate Greenaway's designs. These quaint pictures ... are printed finely in colors, a little brighter than the originals. 8vo. Six kinds ... Pippin Hill"--Catalogue of McLoughlin Bros. toy books, p. 7. This series is also advertised in the Catalogue of McLoughlin Bros., toy books (1882), but Pippin Hill was not included in the series list. Publisher's catalogues for 1883-1885 were not available. Pictorial design, title page, is signed by William Bruton. Two pages featuring full-page Kate Greenaway designs are followed by two pages of text featuring floral vignettes, probably the work of W. Bruton. "The flowers in this book are very suitable for painting, which makes a very pleasant pastime for children."--p. [2]. Full-page illustrations chromolithographed. |
