The mother's right hand is on her cheek, she props her right elbow against the base of an edifice, half-covered with shubbery, behind the bed. Her right hand holds the baby's foot. At her feet, a mother dog nurses a puppy. Notes: Currier & Ives at 152 Nassau St.between 1857 and 1872. See Gale. Currier and Ives 1984, p. xvi.
