| Catalog Notes | A book designer's mock-up consisting of pencil illustrations and pencil scribbles simulating text. A copy of the published version of The Great serpent and his tricks was not located in NUC pre-1956, the Baldwin, Osborne, and Library of Congress catalogs, or in the Research Libraries Information Network (RLIN). Judging from the illustrations, the book is about the comical juxtaposition between a serpent and a water hose. Title and imprint statement transcribed from a pencil sketch of cover design, p. [1] of paper wrapper. "Bruton del 1881"--illustrator's signature and date, p. [14]. "Bruton" is probably W. Bruton, who worked as an illustrator for McLoughlin Bros., Inc. in the 1880s. |
