| Catalog Notes | Poems. Title, imprint statement, and series transcribed from p. [1] of wrapper. Series transposed from head of wrapper. The phrase "with other tales" falls between series and "The pet lamb" on wrapper. Publisher's advertisement, lower cover lists the games Captive princess, Cats and mice, Life's mishaps, Tousel, Ambuscade, and Go-Bang (all at 1.00 each); and Pilgrim's progress, John Gilpin, Monopolist, and Mon and Cash (all at 1.75 each). The publisher's catalog for 1876-77 does not list Cats and mice. McLoughlin Brothers' catalogue (1879) lists all of these games at slightly higher prices. A catalog for 1878 was not available. Wrapper printed in colored ink. Wrapper design signed by W. Bruton. Illustrations printed in color by a relief process (zinc etching?). |
