We have just published a series of new books expressly to amuse children, while, at the same time, they inculcate excellent principles of morality and correct behavior. We have called the whole series of twelve different books ... The slovenly Peter series. They are quarto in form, (size, 8 by 10 inches,) and from their size we are enabled to make the illustrations very large; and having them colored in bright colors, they present a very attractive series of books for very little children ... Each volume contains from 20 to 30 illustrations, and is sold for 25 cents. ... The funny stories of Jimmy Sliderlegs, and others. ... These ... books ... have had the extraordinary sale of 42,000 copies in this country; while in Germany they have reached the united sale of over half a million copies! ...
