Publisher's advertisement, lower cover, consists of ads for Piles of abc and picture blocks (nested), and Pleasure box of abc blocks. Highly similar ads for these products appear in the Catalogue of McLoughlin Bros. toy books (1886), p. 51, 53. These ads do not appear in the McLoughlin catalogue for 1882-83. Catalogues for 1884 and 1885 were not available. These pictorial ads are signed by "Jacob Cocheu NY." Wrapper illustration printed in red, green, and black ink. Textual illustrations produced by a relief process (zinc etchings?) and printed in color. |
