"Little girls and boys abc."--alphabet (upper-case and lower-case) printed in red ink, p. [2-3] of wrapper. Alphabet appears within red frames. A lithograph of a girl wearing a summer dress with a broad sash and holding a hoop, stick, sand pail, and shovel appears on p. [4] of wrapper. Both the red frame and the pictorial lithograph design on the back cover are characteristic of McLoughlin titles issued between 1886 and 1910. A similarly designed issue in the Cinderella series is also dated ca. 1886. Wrapper illustration printed in red, green, and black ink. Textual illustrations produced by a relief process (zinc etchings?) and printed in color. |
