A copy of Tit, Tiny and Tittens the three white kittens published by Thomas Nelson in 1864 held at the British Library has the statement of responsibility, "by A.L.O.E." A.L.O.E. was the pseudonym of British author Charlotte Maria Tucker. The typography and color print technology are characteristic of picture books issued in the United States and England ca. 1875. Issue in hand might have been published by the New York firm of McLoughlin Bros., Inc. Also issued under the title: Tit, Tiny; and Tittens. Text and plates printed on paper leaves reinforced with cloth. Plates printed in color. |
