Attribution taken from a Dean and Munday issue of Uncle Buncle's true and instructive stories owned by the New York Public Library and recorded in NUC pre-1956. "Mrs. Hale's library. [i.e., Little boy's & girl's library] ... Quarto size. 64 pages. Stiff board covers. 8 colored illustrations in each. 10 kinds. ... Uncle Bunckle stories. ... Half hours with the Bible. An entirely new series of Bible histories for the young. ... 6 kinds. Six others in preparation."--publisher's advertisement, lower cover. These series descriptions match those found in List of toy books manufactured ... by McLoughlin Bros. (1867). Pagination includes [8] leaves of plates. In printed boards with cloth spine. Cover design (signed by engraver Edward P. Cogger) printed in red, gold, and black ink. Hand-colored wood-engraved plates set in creme-tinted frames. |
