Pages [1] and [16] blank; pasted to wrapper. Cover printed in red and blue ink; textual illustrations hand-colored under the direction of the publisher. Wood engravings signed, "Devereux sc.," (p. [5]), and "W.H. Van Ingen sc. White del." (i.e., Philadelphia artist George Gorgas White? p. [8]). "Washington ... The defender of his country, the founder of liberty, the friend of man. ..."--p. [15]; text replicates a broadside printed in Virginia ca. 1820 (English short title catalogue entry W39866). "Instructive toy books.
