| Catalog Notes | An alphabet in verse. Text and illustrations identical to The ladder to learning (Albany: Gray, Sprague & Co., ca. 1851-1852) that has a caption title attributing text to Miss Lovechild. Attributed to Eleanor Fenn, who often wrote under the pseudonym "Mrs. Lovechild," in the supplement to NUC pre-1956. Not listed among her works in the New Cambridge bibliography of English literature, 1971. Cover title; edition transposed from head of cover. Caption title: Fisher's holiday present. At head of caption title: Fisher & Brother's edition. Turner & Fisher published in New York and Philadelphia between at least 1836 and 1849; the firm was succeeded by Fisher & Brother in 1850. Fisher & Brother published in New York, Philadephia, and Baltimore. Wood-engraved illustrations hand-colored under the direction of the publisher. "New and beautifully colored juvenile works, published by Turner & Fisher, New York and Philadelphia. ..."--advertisement, p.
