Includes one paper doll and five outfits (five dresses and one hat), not cut. "McLoughlin Bros., 30 Beekman Street, N.Y. manufacturers of toy books, games, &c. Paper dolls--book form. Series no. 1. ... Little Pet. ..."-- p. [4] of wrapper. McLoughlin Brothers was located at 30 Beekman St., New York from 1863 to April, 1870. Advertisement includes an ad for paper doll Series no. 1 listing ten dolls as well as an additional six "new" paper dolls; the earliest extant McLoughlin publisher's catalog (1867) lists 16 dolls in Series no. 1. Wrapper printed in color; doll and outfits hand-colored under the direction of the publisher. Wrapper wood engraving signed: N. Orr & Co.;"Directions for making."--p. [2] of wrapper. |
